THE DAY

While the Groom madly searches for the rings, and the Bride does everything in her power to avoid spilling anything on her dress, you might look to enjoy the surrounding area during the morning and/or enjoy one of the good cafes in Kyneton for a lazy breakfast.

As morning turns to afternoon, we’ll all be getting ready for the ceremony. The ceremony will start at 4pm.

For those not taking the bus, the gates to Churchill will be open from 3.30pm.

Our ceremony will run from just after 4pm through to almost 5pm. We’re keen for a big group photo right after the ceremony, so be ready for the group shot!

As we all exit the ceremony, canapes and drinks will be served outside under the wonderful oak tree setting of the surrounding grounds. We’ll head back into the reception as we close in on 6.30pm or so.

After a night of great food, company and dancing, we’ll all depart from Taradale at around 11pm. Buses will take most of you back to Kyneton and drop us off outside Animus. A small shuttle bus (13-seater) will be available to take you directly to your accommodation if needed after you arrive in Kyneton.

Many (most) of you have indicated that you’re keen to take our chartered bus to Taradale. There’s been a change to our original advice with regards the bus, below are the latest (and final) details for you:

Departure location:  Outside Animus, 1/89A Piper St, Kyneton

The bus will take you on a scenic tour through the local countryside, arriving at the Churchill location in Taradale at 3.45pm.

THE LOCATION

CHURCHILL

CHURCHILL is a beautiful 1858 deconsecrated church set within two acres of garden overlooking the little town of Taradale and the surrounding Macedon Ranges countryside. It is located on Davy Street Taradale, right at the top of the hill. Taradale is 15 minutes from Kyneton on the old Calder Highway. From Melbourne, travel time by car should be approximately 60 minutes or so.

If you are the designated driver for the evening and driving to CHURCHILL, take Exit C794 Malmsbury, Taradale (Daylesford) towards Malmsbury. Head past the Taradale BP and General Store, turn right on to Davy Street and CHURCHILL will be on the right at the top of the hill. There is no parking on site so please use the roadside.

THE NIGHT OF

We’ve read the crowd, and it’s been saying that a small nightcap should be in order to top off the day.

So our wonderful friends at Animus have extended their licence to remain open just for us so those of you keen to indulge in a bit of cheese and a drink or two will be able to wind down at the most appropriate venue in town.

So if you’re keen, from 11.30pm – 1.30am at latest, come enjoy a final tasty tonic (or two) before bedtime at Animus with us.

A shuttle bus will be available through to 1.30am (last departure time) to deliver you to your respective doors safe and sound.

THE WEATHER

In keeping with our theme to enjoy as much of the local as possible, there’s little surprise in the forecast weather conditions leading up to and for the big day itself. Expect rain!

While detailed forecasts for this coming Friday and beyond are not as yet available, it’s fairly clear that we can expect cool days, and cooler nights. So while a little rain never hurt anyone, we do recommend bringing some warmer clothes, and an umbrella wouldn’t go astray either.

Yippee!

THE DAY AFTER

Given our responsible middle age, only a few of the young’ns are likely to have hurt themselves the night before. The rest of us – with full bellies, partial sore limbs from dancing, and a tidy night cap before bed - will have slept well and be ready for a later breakfast / lazy brunch the following day.

So join us at our house in Kyneton to share the many stories and memories of the day before, and tuck into some breakfast / brunch treats to boot.

Where:  Ellis House, 30 Edgecombe St, Kyneton

When:  Not before 9am, but anytime after

Until:  Laze away the day, no end time

KYNETON AND SURROUNDS

The more we have visited the Macedon Ranges region, the more we’ve come to love its fabulous mix of food, wine, landscape and specialty offerings like day spas, boutiques and cultural festivals.

Some of you are travelling a good distance to join in the celebrations, so do take the opportunity to see as much of the local area as you can. An easy beginner’s guide to what is available can be found here
